THE EGYPTIAN-AMERICAN ENTERPRISE FUND ANNOUNCES PROMOTION AND NEW HIRE

NEW YORK, NY—The Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund (“EAEF”), a private investment fund established by the U.S. Congress to promote the development of the Egyptian private sector, has announced the hiring of Joseph Rivera as Chief Financial Officer and the promotion of Yasmine Ghobrial from Senior Vice President to Chief Investment Officer, effective January 1, 2025. 

James A. Harmon, EAEF’s Chairman, commented: “I am pleased to welcome Joseph Rivera, who brings a wealth of experience to EAEF as our new Chief Financial Officer. I am also pleased to announce that Yasmine Ghobrial has been promoted to Chief Investment Officer. Yasmine has been critical to our efforts to deploy capital in Egypt. I look forward to working with them closely as we advance our mission of supporting the growth of Egypt’s private sector.”  

Investment Staff Promotion 

Yasmine Ghobrial has been promoted to Chief Investment Officer. Since joining EAEF in 2017, she has played a key role sourcing and managing investments across diverse sectors, while building strong relationships with fund managers, portfolio companies, and key stakeholders. Before joining EAEF, Yasmine worked in investor relations at Edita Food Industries, one of Egypt’s largest publicly listed snack food companies. She began her career as an Investment Analyst at First Equity Partners, a boutique private equity firm based in Egypt with a presence across the MENA region. Yasmine holds an MBA from Georgetown University and a bachelor’s degree from the German University in Cairo. 

New Chief Financial Officer 

Joseph Rivera was recently hired as Chief Financial Officer. Prior to joining EAEF, Joseph held similar roles at registered investment advisors, Phoenician Capital, a global hedge fund focused on growth opportunities; Caravel Management, an emerging and frontier markets equities hedge fund; Hull Capital, a fund of funds focused on investing in private investment in public equity (“PIPE”) managers, and Hurricane Capital Advisors, an emerging global multi-manager platform. Joseph received his BA in Accounting from the University of Miami and is a CPA registered in New York State.

The Egyptian-American Enterprise Fund is a United States government-funded private entity. Since the inception of the Enterprise Fund Program, over US $1.1 billion has been invested directly alongside US $6.9 billion invested by private parallel funds. 

With capital of $300 million, EAEF is committed to promoting financial inclusion, job creation, and increasing foreign and domestic investment in Egypt for long-term sustainable economic development.
