James Harmon is the Founder and Chairman of the Caravel Fund, an emerging and frontier market fund. He served as Chairman, President, and Chief Executive Officer of the Export-Import Bank of the United States from 1997-2001. In 2012, James was appointed EAEF’s Chairman to establish EAEF. Bringing extensive investment and emerging markets experience, he helped nominate the inaugural board of directors and select the Lorax management team, establishing EAEF as a reputable player in the Egyptian market today. In 2004, James was elected Chairman of the Board of the World Resources Institute, a global policy and research institution. Prior to working at the Ex-Im Bank, James was Chairman and CEO of Schroder Wertheim & Co. investment bank.
As Managing Partner of K6 Investments, Mona invests across diverse industries, including financial services, technology and consumer products. Prior to launching K6, Mona was President & CEO of Proctor Investment Managers, a company she founded in 2002. Under her leadership, Proctor was an early mover in GP Stakes investing in both alternative and traditional asset managers and grew from start up to $14 billion in Affiliate Assets under Management. Ms. Aboelnaga Kanaan sold the firm to National Bank of Canada in 2006 and continued as Proctor’s CEO until 2013.

Committed to financial inclusion and innovation, Mona serves on the board of the Egyptian American Enterprise Fund and advisory boards of Investcorp Strategic Capital Group, Dubai-based Global Ventures, and Rebalance Capital.
Mona is also a Trustee of the State University of New York’s Fashion Institute of Technology, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, a Leadership Fellow at the National Association of Corporate Directors and a member of the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital Capital Campaign Committee.
Mona holds a B.S. from the Wharton School and an M.B.A. from Columbia Business School. Born in Cairo, Egypt, Mona now proudly calls New York City home.
Nada is a Senior Advisor at the IFC and the former Country Manager for Egypt, Libya and Yemen at the IFC. Nada joined the IFC in 2002 as an Investment Officer in the Financial Markets Department, where she led transactions in areas such as mortgage finance, factoring, and banking across the MENA Region.
Tarek Kabil is the former Minister of Trade and Industry of Egypt. Previously, he was a Partner in a leading private equity firm as the Head of the Performance Acceleration Group for MENA, Turkey, and Central Asia. Prior to that, he held leadership positions in PepsiCo for 18 years, most recently the President of PepsiCo International for the Middle East and Africa (MEA) for beverages and snacks, and President and CEO for MEA and South East Asia for International Dairy and Juice Co. a joint venture between PepsiCo and Al Marai Co. Before PepsiCo he worked in the Procter & Gamble Company for 12 years as supply chain director.
With a passion for building brands and developing new ideas, Habib has been fortunate to play a key role in building three successful businesses in the Egyptian market. She was a key member of the executive team that created Raya Holdings group to become a leading technology brand in the Middle East. She then went on to co-found Fawry for Electronic Payments, the largest electronics payment platform in Egypt. Driven by the obvious need for standardized, holistic outpatient care in Egypt, Habib embarked in 2016 to establish and lead Dawi Clinics, a nationwide chain of integrated family clinics that strives to disrupt the outpatient market in Egypt. Habib sits on the boards of the Commercial International Bank Egypt and Fawry Banking and Payment Technology Company. She holds a BSC in Computer Science from the American University in Cairo and an executive MBA from INSEAD in France.
Amr is a Director in Liberty Mutual’s Global Private Investments Practice, where he serves as a Senior Investor and Lead for Strategy. In this role, he leads the global private investments portfolio allocation strategy and new investment opportunities. He previously served as a Principal at the Boston Consulting Group and a Senior Director at Fidelity Investments. He earned an MBA with high honors from Boston University and a Bachelors degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Cairo University.
Mohamed El Beih is a Partner at LuminArx Capital Management.
Prior to joining LuminArx in 2023, Mr. El Beih was the Chief Strategy Officer and Global Head of Investor Relations at CBC Group, an alternative asset manager focused on healthcare investing in Asia, where he served on the Management Committee of the Firm. Prior to joining CBC, Mr. El Beih was a Managing Director and Head of Europe, the Middle East & Australasia for Angelo Gordon, where he focused on strategy, business development, and managing the firm’s strategic institutional partnerships across the regions. From 2007 to 2019, Mr. El Beih worked at The Blackstone Group. He was a Senior Managing Director and a member of the Management Committee for Blackstone’s Hedge Fund Solutions Group (“BAAM”). At Blackstone, Mr. El Beih was primarily involved with institutional client coverage, business development, and managing Blackstone’s sovereign wealth fund relationships in the Middle East. He was also involved in developing BAAM’s broader business strategy and product development efforts.
Mr. El Beih is currently a Board Member of the Arab-American Family Support Center, a charitable organization focused on immigrant and refugee communities in New York. Mr. El Beih received a BA in International Relations from the University of Southern California, where he graduated magna cum laude, and his MBA from the Stern School of Business at New York University.
Teresa Barger is the titular CEO of Cartica Management, a listed-equity asset management firm active between 2008 and 2023 dedicated to ESG engagement and improvement strategies in the Emerging Markets.
Ms. Barger spent 21 years at the International Finance Corporation investing in emerging market companies in nearly all regions of the world. At IFC, among other positions, she led investments in African financial institutions, Private Equity, and Corporate Governance. She created the first index for EM private equity and co-founded the Emerging Markets Private Equity Association (EMPEA, now GPCA). Ms. Barger also developed the first two corporate governance funds in the Emerging Markets and developed stock and bond markets in the FSU and Africa.
Before joining IFC, Ms. Barger was with McKinsey & Company. She is a member of the Council on Foreign Relations and serves on the boards of National Investment and Infrastructure Trust in India, American University in Cairo, ANERA, USAID’s Advisory Council on Voluntary Foreign Assistance, and The Egyptian American Enterprise Fund. She is also an advisor to one of the longest standing global climate tech funds.
Ms. Barger received her AB magna cum laude from Harvard College and her MBA from the Yale School of Management. She did post-graduate work at the American University in Cairo. She speaks Arabic and French. And she is a Latin Grammy winner.
